Accessibility:
All North Pacific Yachts are designed so that all equipment, wiring and plumbing is all is easy to access. There are numerous hatches throughout the yacht, headliners are attached with Velcro and screw caps are used to make removal of teak wiring chases and other access panels easier.
Electronics:
Navigational electronics are not included in the base price of North Pacific Yachts. However, the factory is a certified Raymarine installer and will install any Raymarine product.
Mechanical Equipment:
The North Pacific 38 is powered by a single 230 hp QSB Cummins diesel. The 230 hp Cummins diesel is a good choice, pushing the yacht along at up to 10 knots with a 9.5 kts cruise speed. At 7 kts the NP38 burns approximately 2 GPH, at 8kts approximately 3.5 GPH and at 9 kts approximately 6.5 GPH
With the single engine configuration the propeller, shaft and rudder are fully protected taking a lot of the worry out of watching for logs while cruising in the Pacific Northwest or hitting the bottom on the ICW.
Standard equipment on the North Pacific 38 includes a Vetus 75KGF bow thruster giving you the maneuverability to make docking in any slip easy. A stern thruster is optional equipment for those who like the maneuverability of twins but the economy of a single engine.

Electrical Equipment:
The North Pacific 38’ Sedan was designed so that accessing any wire or installing new wires or equipment is quick and easy. Good examples are the AC and DC electrical panels located in the pilothouse. They are hinged making access to the back of the panels easy.
A 160 amp alternator is standard with the NP38. A 3000 W inverter/battery charger can provide enough AC power to run most of the 110V electrical equipment including microwaves, coffee makes and toaster ovens. The high output inverter/charger means that the 4, 12V, 200 amp hour no-maintenance batteries are charged at the optimum rate while the boat is plugged into shore power. For those who require more electrical power for longer trips, extra optional batteries can be factory installed and an optional 5-9 KW Northern Lights generator can be installed.
Engine Room:
The engine room on the North Pacific 38 is easily accessed through 5 removable floor hatches on the salon floor allowing quick access to the engine room without lifting a large section of the floor. There is also very convenient access to the engine room by lifting the hinged steps from the salon to the forward staterooms. The room is well-lit, covered with light aluminum panels and diamond floor plating. The area is spacious allowing access to all sides of the engine.
Also located in the engine room is an 11 gal water heater, the inverter/charger, dual Racor fuel filters and the oil change system. There is also easy access to the dripless PYI shaft seal under the salon floor.
Fuel and Water:
The NP38 is equipped with two, 100 GAL water tanks and two 175 GAL fuel tanks. The tanks are made from separate fiberglass molds and are then placed in the hull. Each tank is baffled and has inspection ports on the top. Vinylester resins are used in the fuel tanks so using bio-diesel is not a concern and in the water tanks to prevent blistering.
